To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Governor General’s Foot Guards, the senior reserve infantry regiment in Canada, and to highlight the unit’s past, present and future, GGFG is hosting a march composition competition. The aim of this competition is not only to commemorate, but to also inspire and cultivate the creation of new, exciting music for military band.

At this time, the submissions are in and we have narrowed the field down to our top eight finalists! From here, the power is now in your hands to select our top three to be performed at our final Spring Concert (date TBD). Please see the link below which will take you to a survey to vote for your top three march selections, as well as provide you a link to a folder containing the top eight marches to listen to. At this time, all submissions for voting remain anonymous, so keep an open mind and open ear and choose your favorites. Only one vote is allowed per person and voting will close at 1200 on April 14th. We would like to thank everyone who has participated thus far and congratulate them on their unique, inspiring and exceptional compositions. We can't wait to see who our top three will be!
The Governor General’s Foot Guards (GGFG) believes in the potential of Ottawa/Outaouis youth. Accordingly, as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations, the regimental family has decided to give back to the community that has supported us so well over the years by inaugurating the GGFG Youth Achievement Awards.
